Project overview

Flash at dusk gives a correctly exposed subject in front of a dark, colour-shifted background. It is the classic mismatch, and the reason the frame looks like two pictures.

Transformation details

The ambient background was lifted and its green corrected first, so the setting looks like evening rather than underexposure.
The flash falloff on the subject was softened at its edges so the transition into the background is gradual.
The path and grass in the foreground were graded to match the corrected background.
The harsh flash specular was reduced and the skin evened.
