  • Background compositingThe subject separated cleanly from the original and set into the new background.
  • Custom mood gradingSubject and background graded together, so the colour of the scene and the skin agree.

The workflow

  1. Send the subject and the scene

    The subject photograph at full resolution, plus a background image or a description of the scene. Up to two source images can be combined.

  2. Describe the look

    A reference image, or a few lines on mood, colour and time of day, gives the grade and the effects a direction.

  3. Cut out, place and relight

    The subject is separated, placed into the background, lit and shadowed to fit, then given light skin retouching.

  4. Grade and deliver

    The whole frame is graded to one mood, with creative effects where they help. The delivery time is 24 hours.

Frequently asked

  • How many images can be combined?

    Up to two, usually the subject and the background. If the idea needs three or more, choose Advanced Creative Photo Editing.

  • Do I need to supply the background?

    Send a background image with your subject photo, or describe the scene you want. A background built from scratch for the concept is part of Advanced Creative Photo Editing.

  • Is retouching included?

    Light, natural skin retouching is. If the composite also needs high-end skin retouching, the Advanced Composite package of Advanced Creative Photo Editing includes it.

  • How is this different from Creative Essential?

    Both change the background with grading, lighting and light retouching. Basic Creative Photo Editing is $16 per image with a 24-hour delivery time; Creative Essential, part of Advanced Creative Photo Editing, is $25 with a 20-hour delivery time.
