Project overview
A cover has to work as a layout, not only as a picture. The capture is a reclining pose on white with no space reserved for type and nothing anchoring the bottom of the frame.
Transformation details
The figure was repositioned within a larger canvas first, so the title had a real place to go rather than being dropped on afterwards.
A scorpion was built around the figure at a scale that registers at thumbnail size, and a hard cast shadow put both on the same floor.
The title was set across the top in heavy display type, with the tail curling up toward it to tie the lettering to the image.
The grade stays close to neutral, because a cover that competes with its own type is hard to read.
